My Favorite Literary Form

is the exhaustion.

See Flet by Joyelle McSweeney, Cunt-Ups by Dodie Bellamy, The Cow by Ariana Reines, Mörk Materia by Aase Berg.

It's a kind of parasitic form, which invades another form and drives it into exhaustion.

Has there been any good writing on the poetics/pleasures of exhaustion? I've been trying to explain it (assuming this is the same as the thing I'm thinking of) to the medievalists, who don't seem to understand the aesthetic pleasures of exhaustion, though the middle ages are packed with such delights.

Chris!

That sounds fantastic.

Just off the top of my head this seems perfect. Afterall Bataille was medievalist.

I'll email you (if I have your email somewhere) with some other ideas!

Another thought: Parasitism is not quite the right metaphor.

Are you talking about exhaustion as a physical or mental manifestation? I like to think of mental exhaustion as a sort of anti-enthusiasm and a pleasure therein.

Please explain further, I suppose.
