Claire Hero

Ross wants us to read Claire Hero. Here's some of her poems.

I just actually read her book and I liked it.

  1. Seconded. I have the Dancing Girl book - is there another one out?

  3. She also released Afterpastures through Caketrain a year or two ago. I think it's still available, and has one of the best covers ive seen in quite a while. Very good, and I just ordered the DGP one. There's an ulterior motive in that she taught me, but I only read her work just before she moved back to NY.
Very good example of a teacher who doesn't push an agenda. Out class was so hetrogenous as to be sometimes confusing.

  4. I like the LPZ poems linked to a lot! They seem very Celanian to me or, derivative in the best sense: if, so to speak, the soil is good, then who cares that it's not a wholly new ground! Is t just me or is originality over-rated? If the work is good, then I believe that's as much as one can ask for. This view does not, I hope, suggest I don't love when writers work the wild of words. I hope everyone's doing well!

  5. Yes, the entire book I read was Celan-influenced. But I think we only notice the influence when that influence is someone original like Celan.

  6. Many thanks for the link. Claire Hero was my teacher not so many years ago when she was in New Zealand. It was a privilege.
