Johan Jönson

Here's an excerpt from a piece about Johan Jönson on the Swedish blog Brytburken (which seems to be mainly about music):

"Some works continue, refreshingly undisguised, into Johan Jönson’s books of “poetry”; some jargon from Heiner Müller, some drug-and-sex-metaphysics from Burroughs, and some concepts from Deleuze, Virilio, and others. However, it is also possible to absorb him as death metal, grindcore, Skinny Puppy, Meshuggah, Autechre, Merzbow. That is probably the interpretation that will get you the closest to these books."

I like that, that may have sold me one of the books. The grotesquerie of Skinny Puppy (esp Too Dark Park), the mammoth excesses of Merzbow (including his ridiculous productivity - 500+ releases).
I'm fascinated by these parallels.

Yes, Johan's output is enormous. He has this basement where he sits when he gets off work and just writes book after enormous book. I'll have to check out the music since i don't know Merzbow. You would probably like the blog I took this from.

I'll have a look. Merzbow is pretty intense, oft hailed as the godfather of Japanese Noise. Definately worth a listen.
