LIterary History
Mark Scroggins is talking about Literary History.
How does one write a history of contemporary american poetry? Does it have one? Is it even desireable?

A general literary history is at least as desirable as a general anthology, which is to say about a 6 on the hottness scale.
A well-written highly-partisan clearly-bracketed literary history would require no intoxicants, aphrodisiacs, rationalizations, etc.
Ahh- the teaching of a concensus history and a canon of literature would give people the proper grounding in modern poetry.
Right after they learn about rhyme and meter.
Nothing has *a* history, of course.
